Each semester, the Center for Language Acquisition sponsors invited speakers and hosts scholars from around the world who come to the Penn State Campus to share their research with faculty and students. The lectures that are offered represent cutting edge research from leading scholars reporting theoretical advances and empirical studies in applied linguistics and related fields.
In addition, the Center organizes conferences and institutes to bring together leading figures in applied linguistics and to promote the ongoing professional development of language teachers. In keeping with its goals of professionalization and service to the community, the Center offers several awards and funding opportunities to Penn State graduate students.
