Second Workshop on Corpus Tools for Language Teaching

"Corpus Tools for Language Teaching (Part 2)"

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

4:40-5:45 p.m.

64 Willard

This workshop--a follow-up to February's 'corpus tools' session--provided a hands-on experience of how language corpora--collections of authentic language samples--can be applied to classroom language teaching.  Models of corpus-based teaching activities will be presented, and participants will be guided to design a pedagogical application of corpus tools for their own teaching contexts.

Topics to be addresssed include:

  • What do corpus-based activities and assignments look like?
  • How can teachers incorporate corpus tools in a second langauge to teach vocabulary, writing skills, pragmatics, and more?

The event is free and open to the public.  Light refreshments will be provided.
