Jim Lantolf, along with Matt Poehner (also of Penn State) and Merrill Swain (Emerita Professor at OISE of the University of Toronto), edited The Routledge Handbook of Sociocultural Theory and Second Language Development, published in July 2018. The volume contains 35 chapters that provide a comprehensive overview of research relating to second language acquisition, bilingualism, language teaching, and teacher education. It also includes several chapters that address general theoretical concepts. The contributors are leading experts whose work is informed by the writings of L. S. Vygotsky and his colleagues on sociocultural psychology.
